Customer Reviews

  • from Cathy Bowler, Head of Corporate Management, BIG Lottery on 08 Aug 2014

I am a Head of Corporate Management at the Big Lottery Fund (this can best be described as a senior manager operating in a customer service environment). Amanda Dudman has been my external coach over a period of a year or so, meeting on a monthly basis.
My grade of manager are offered optional coaching as one of a number of tools designed to make us more effective in the business in the broadest sense. This could be about improving our leadership skills, working out approaches to influencing and negotiating, implementing performance management etc.
Examples of the beneficial impacts the coaching had on my organisation include:
Devising creative ways of engaging with team members to explore the findings of the annual staff survey and determining what, at a local level, could be done differently to improve employee satisfaction
Devising tactics to ‘break through’ a historically hostile relationship between two functional areas in the business, resulting in improved joint working
Identifying potential development opportunities for myself which in turn would benefit the organisation
I have found working with Amanda to be a very positive experience – she will keep pushing you to explore options until you are satisfied you have found a way forward. I would therefore be happy to recommend Amanda Dudman as a personal coach.

  • from Georgina Stanton, Central Bedfordshire Council on 03 Jul 2014

I have worked with Amanda for more than a decade, initially when I was leading Communications and Customer Relations at Essex County Council and more recently in my role as Chief Communications Officer at Central Bedfordshire.
My job has been to develop and deliver a communication strategy for the Council that is designed to protect and enhance its reputation with customers, staff and other stakeholders.
Amanda has helped my team through training and team development, and more specifically, with coaching.
I sought this following a period of considerable organisational change which was destabilizing.
Through a series of sessions over a six month period I was supported in analysing my reactions to the change situation and to take responsibility for these.
Through this process I was able to be much clearer about the professional outcomes I was seeking for myself and for the organisation. I am entirely confident that this profoundly influenced not only my wellbeing by also my effectiveness in the workplace.
The organisational consequence of this is that the Communications Team is functioning with confidence and purpose as evidenced by our recent survey results which demonstrated a 50% increase in customer satisfaction from baseline research.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Amanda, both for individual development through coaching and for team training.

  • from Andy, Grout Chief Executive, Milton Keynes Play Association on 04 Jun 2014

I have been coached by Amanda Dudman for a number of years now. Amanda approached me take part in her ‘pilot’ programme with an offer of a series of six free coaching sessions. I had previously used a business mentor and felt this might be something which would assist me in my recently new appointment as CEO with Milton Keynes Play Association. I undertook the first set of sessions and was so impressed with Amanda and coaching as a technique I have been using her ever since.
    I have used Amanda to focus on various areas of the organisation;
Strategic and business planning – she has enabled me to concentrate my thinking on the focus of the organisation, helping me to remove the people from the process and concentrating on the right structure first, then thinking about the people and skills required.
Stakeholder engagement – teasing out my thoughts about who our stakeholders are, who we might want them to be and our relationships with them. Most recently we have been developing a strategy for developing partnerships as resources become scarcer.
Leadership and Management – getting me to think about my leadership style. How I might adapt it to suit the moment.
The coaching sessions have had a great impact on both myself and the organisation I lead. Her technique of making me think and challenge my own thinking is very different to mentoring. We have worked through developing strategies to implement my thinking and then reviewed the outcomes, which have in the main been successful.
Amanda has made a significant difference to my leadership and management of my current organisation. Through working with her there are some ideas, techniques and areas I can transfer to another organisation. I would definitely recommend her services.
