For almost 2 decades as an educator in a Christian school, Cecil worked closely with many students and families through various challenges. The last 4 years in that ministry, he served as chaplain and dean of students, giving more time to individual care and counseling to middle and high school students, and their parents. His primary impact was authentic spiritual leadership that connected students and staff to the love of God and healthy relationships.
From 2009-2015, Cecil served as the Christian Education Director of Sunset Church where he grew leadership, program, and community in real life, love, and family. He fostered an environment of emotionally healthy spirituality which created a safe place for children and youth, encouraged and equipped parents, and motivated the dedicated volunteer staff of the ministry.
Cecil earned his Master of Arts in Theological Studies from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in 2007. In 2014, he received his Certificate of Transformational Coaching from Western Seminary.
At the core, Cecil finds his identity in Jesus Christ. He seeks to define who he is, what he’s worth, and what life is about in the death and resurrection of Christ Jesus. Essentially, that’s about being a peacemaker who neither slides into avoidance or attack in the midst of conflict, but rather pursues reconciliation and love. And from this Spirit of freedom and peace, he orders his life and goals.
May is the love of his life and he loves his 2 kids to the moon. They are unequivocally his joy and priority.
Cecil has a growing passion for families to experience authentic, ongoing transformation and grace-filled living at home, the place where those life-giving gifts are often missed. His drive to be a coach is fueled by the challenge, joy and satisfaction in partnering with people to learn and move forward in the things that mean most to them.
His interests include but are not limited to bass fishing, biking, weight lifting, swimming, shopping with his wife, movies with his children, and food and hangout time with family and friends.
